So the story begins...

Thank you for visiting this site.

This is probably the best song of The Cure that we got to know in the 2007/2008 period of their concert activity.

Played for the first time in Mexico City 21.10.2007.

The Cure were playing it at almost every show during the European par of 4Tour, then in America they dropped it to introduce new songs. (however not entirely, they played it I think once..?) (Houston?)

The song somehow didn’t make it to the long-awaited 4:13 Dream album, but it’s rumoured to be included in the famous Dark Album The Cure are going to release in spring ‘2009.

I’m a Cure fan since February 2008, from Poland, I missed two Cure shows in my country because I got into Cure just after their gigs.. argghhh, got amazed with their music, and when I heard A Boy… for the first time, it was something… something I’ll never forget.

So here we are, waiting for the release of the companion album with hope the song will be included there

I love this song to bits, that’s why I set up this blog. It’s exclusively and only about this song. A kind of a tribute. I posted all the live recordings I had. Well, there are some bootlegs I miss, so if you have these recordings of A Boy I Never Knew, please let me know:

A Boy I Never Knew is probably about a son Robert has never had and now he wishes he did have. The entire song is touching and moving, the lyrics heartbreaking. I read somewhere on a Cure forum some person say “How is it possible, for a man who has never had a child to write something like this??”

The lyrics may change throughout various shows, but to get the idea of what is it about, this may be enough:

To have his arms around me, to sense his perfect trust
I’d give all I ever had…all I ever had…

I’d love to see him dream, I’d love to watch him sleep
To have his arms around me, ?

Held his arms in mine, sense his perfect trust
I’d give all I ever had for a moment of his love

He’s my heart and my soul
He’s my blood and my bones
He’s my prayers and my hope
My wishes and dreams
Seems so long ago, so long ago…

I’d love to watch him dream, love to see him sleep
To have his arms around me, feel him as he breathes
Hold his hands in mine, sense his perfect trust
I’d give all I ever had for a moment of his love

He’s my heart and my soulHe’s my blood and my bones
He’s my prayers and my hopes
My wishes and dreams
Seems so long ago…

He’s my blood and my bones
He’s my heart and my soul
He’s my prayers and my hopes
My wishes and dreams
A boy I never knew
And the man I’ll never know
I’ll never know, I'll never know…

To have his arms around me, sense his perfect trust
I’d give all I ever had…

Thank you Robert for this great song

Thank you for everything, you took me with your music to places in my imagination I would never have discovered were it not for your songs. This was a great year.
